My Oh My ..... How Time Flies !

Wow, where has the time gone? Things have been so hectic here that I have hardly had time to think let alone to blog but here goes.

So, what have I been up to? Well I'm still doing the Trerulefoot Local Produce Market three days a week. The rest of the time is either catching up with housework or sewing and creating things to replace the stock I sell at the market so things have pretty much become a blur. I did spend a couple of hours last night catching up on reading all the lovely blogs I follow, it seems like you've all been so busy too.

The things that sell at the market are gradually starting to settle into a pattern of things that sell well and things that seem to be just a one off but, I'm slowly getting the hang of what to make. I have recently started making cards with little packets of seeds stuck onto them which you can plant in the garden. Hopefully they will be a good seller. I have also been making a whole loads of other things such as garden kneelers, peg bags, aprons and cushions.

There was also a fabulous St Piran's Day celebration at Kernow Mill with a piper, some cute little owls and a whole load of fund raising efforts on behalf of The Lions club, which was great fun.

There is also the possibility of another craft fair coming up at the start of April and I am desperately trying to come up with some new ideas to sell so ...... if anyone has any ideas for things that generally sell well at craft fairs I would be very very happy to hear from you. I have to confess it's giving me a few sleepless nights and I keep waking up at 2am thinking "I wonder if this would work" or " I wonder if that would sell". Is that normal I ask myself :-)

Busy Busy Busy.

Well it's been a while since I posted anything but things have been very hectic. Since starting at the local produce market one day a week a couple of weeks ago, it has since increased to three days a week which means I now spend a fair old amount of time sewing like a maniac trying to replace the things that I sell over the 3 days I'm there.

Here are some of the cards I have been making for the market.

Also, as the weather has recently dried up and my field is now more like a proper field again and less like a mud bath, I finally managed to get around to mending the fences that were obliterated by the floods we had in December last year. It took all morning and by the time the fence was finally fixed I was shattered. I replaced 15 posts in the fence, bashing them into the ground with a HUGE post basher which weighs a ton and I re-attached all the fencing wire so the llamas are now, once again, safe to graze in that side of the field. They are very happy llamas.

This is how the field looked last year during the flooding.

In addition to all this I have been converting a fabulous shelf unit, which I was given for free, into a sort-of mini greenhouse so I can get some of my seeds started. I have worked out that I can get 4 seed trays on each shelf and there are 5 shelves, as you can see, so I will be able to get loads of flower seeds planted for my car boot sales this summer and when the weather warms up a bit, I will be able to get some of my veg seeds planted so I can get my raised beds stocked again this year ..... and hopefully, not just as an all-you-can-eat salad bar for the local slugs this year!!

Here is the before picture of the rack and I will post the after photo when it's finished.

Finally, I thought I would just share with you a conversation I had with my youngest daughter the other day. She's 19.

Her:      Can you dislocate your jaw by yawning too hard?

Me:       Maybe, why do you ask?

Her:     Well, if I dislocate my jaw how will I be able to talk to you when I ring you to tell you I have  dislocated it?

Me:       You can text me you lunatic!

Her:     Maybe we should have some codes or protocols in place for just such emergencies, you know..... like the police in America have codes for everything.

Me:       Like what?

And this is what she came up with. I'm guessing that she has WAY too much time on her hands and that it's time her gap year came to an end :-)
